Rejecting a purely consumerist point of view, Mister Montage embraces the aestheticism of the early days of fashion illustration, readymade art forms, constructions, and happenings to advance new ways of seeing men’s style.
Mister Montage employs photomontage and photoshoplifting, gleaning inspiration from sources as varied as the chimerical cut out boxes of Joseph Cornell to the living pastiche of an urban sidewalk.
Through the playful investigation of art and ideas—and a reconsideration of menswear—author Joseph Folger presents a new dialogue on masculinities as a challenge to the mass marketing of male identity.
